Thread: Remote Starter

Ok - just reading through the american forums - and a guy is putting on a much older diamante (early nineties) a remote starter.

Do you guys this its possible with todays Magna's? As I think this would be a great feature.

Scenario - its cold outside - you look out the window, turn your car on - 3 minutes later walk down, open it - and its already warmed up under the bonnet - and inside

    What do you think?

PS: I just posted this on MOGWA - but I think there's more people actually visiting this forum.

    its already here.

if i wanted to fork out another 200bucks, i could adapt that to my alarm system, so i could press a button on my keypad, and the car would start 8)

but they didnt have the part when i wanted it and i couldnt be bothered getting it now ::

ok, this sounds cool i guess but how does it actually work? i park my car in gear, and my alarm is only connected to the electrical system. how exactly is it supposed to start and idle my car? and wouldnt it just be a turbo timer?
    1st u get da MAGNA,then u ad da power,then u get da woman!

ok, its a remote start, not a turbo timer,

    here is the differences;

    Remote start:
bascally allows you to 'start' the vehicle while you are not inside. good for like the inital topic start was if its cold, and you want to warm up your car (if u wanna argue about warming up your car, go the general section, there is a flame war there somewhere :: )

usefull for: when your lazy, and you can see your car from you bedroom, and cant be botherd to get outta bed, but you need to go to work in 10 mins, so you remotely start you car, if your smart the night before you would of turned on the heater / aircon so you have a nice warm/cold car when you jump in ::

    turbo timer:
is used to 'cool' the car, specially for tubo cars when youve given it a kick for the last hour boosting round town 8) its used so when you leave your car, the engine is still pumpin oil to your snails to try cool them down to 'normal operating' tempture. if you just turn you car off after an hours worth of redlining, then you could sease the bearing in your turbo. no good.

hope that kinda cleard thins up. people can correct if needed 8)

yeah these things have been around for a while and its easy to put on but i couldnt be bothered , my car is parked in the garage which fairly well stays the same tempreture all the time so its not to hot not to cold.

i know what a turbo timer is and what its used for, but they are also used to start the car and get the turbo up to full operating temp. like i asked before, how does it actually start the car and let it idle if its in gear?

manual = leave it out of gear
auto = leave it in park.

this presents a problem if you live on a hill ::
